Indiana Tech Geothermal Project

Phase I of Indiana Tech’s campus-wide geothermal loop system will consist of 120 tons of capacity through the use of an array of 400 feet deep vertical wells. The first phase will serve the newly renovated Wilfred Uytengsu, Sr. Center (the former Seitz Center) as well as the Zollner Engineering building. This project will serve as a vital learning tool for students pursuing their bachelor’s degrees in the energy engineering program. 

One of the objectives of this project was to integrate the geothermal pump house into the campus so that it would not stand out as a utilitarian building. In doing so, the new pump house will overlook the third base line of the baseball stadium and provide a wonderful gathering space for students and fans to enjoy the game as well as Indiana Tech’s beautiful campus. The roof of the pump house will provide outdoor seating, charcoal grills, and wireless internet access.
